Planet Porter is a big beer for everyone. Don't be afraid of the dark; this beer is very drinkable and remarkably smooth, brewed for a malty, coffee-like flavor.
A once almost extinct style of ale, Boulder Brewing helped revive the category and this is now one of the oldest American porters.

One-third pint, GraviCask from the USA Cask Ale Bar provided by BSF at GBBF’11, third day. The body content is black as coal. Fast dissipating beige head, loose lacing. Mid-sweet brown and black malts to the nose. Blend of coffee and chocolate in flavour added by earth and vanilla sweetness. Finish off in a bittersweet way. Rounded mouthfeel. Just a decent porter (London, 04.08.2011).

12oz bottle. Pitch black, thick beige head in a shaker glass. Aroma of roasted malt light chocolate. Good amount of roasted malt, hints of chocolate, bitter coffee. Smooth creamy mouthfeel. I got to say, after I looked at the ratings, I am real surprised this brew doesn’t have a higher Weighted Avg. I found this to have good flavor and drinkability. I wanted another one as soon as I finished it. Ask yourself are there better, more complex porters? Yes, for sure. BUT, this has very good aspects. I would drink this any day of the week. A bit under rated in my eyes.
