Planet Porter is a big beer for everyone. Don't be afraid of the dark; this beer is very drinkable and remarkably smooth, brewed for a malty, coffee-like flavor.
A once almost extinct style of ale, Boulder Brewing helped revive the category and this is now one of the oldest American porters.

draught at brewtopia - very light in color for a porter - mild aroma - odd mix of berries and smoke in the flavor - roasty - not really worth a shot.

A basic porter and not my style of porter at that. +++Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer pours thick, black and mildly oily with a very small tan head. Feels a bit thin and watery on the palate which is most unfortunate. I rather prefer a thicker brew. The flavor is bitter and smoky with not much else to back it up with.

Fast fading tan head. Burnt malt nose and taste. Finish is short with a prickly mouthfeel (too carbonated?)

Updated from a beer fest tasting: Very dark crimson brown, small head. Rich aroma: roasted and hoppy. Light chocolate flavor with dry finish, and light acidity. Quaffable porter. MWBF 2002: Deep garnet-black with tan head. Chocolatey roasty aroma. Smooth dry roasted flavor. Somewhat chocolatey. Nice.
