Our Fordham Lager is a golden Bavarian-style lager, with a firm malty body, a subtle hop character, and a slightly sweet finish. Helles is the German word for light or pale, referring to the color of the beer. This is the everyday drinking beer for Germans in Munich. Fordham Lager is bottom-fermented, making it a lager beer, and has a medium to light-body. It has a clean, malt accented aroma and a malty finish with little hop bitterness. Our Fordham Lager is a very balanced beer, meaning that it is not too sweet and not too bitter. It is brewed mostly with pale malted barley and small amounts of Vienna and Munich malts, which increases the body and maltiness in the beer.

In draft at Rams Head Inn in Annapolis. Pours a clear pale gold with an off white head. Light malty nose. Flavors of biscuit with a bit of hop bitterness. Clean finish.

355ml bottle. Pours light and golden with a small head, as expected. The nose has too much butterscotch for my liking. There’s a lack of freshness considering this is a lager. The taste is marginally better but still butterscotch and no fresh zingy finish. The palate is close to medium bodied with a cloying finish. Overall, not a good beer.

Hazy gold beer, decent white head. Light crispy palate, semi dry. Mild lagerish malt, reasonable orange hop. Mild minerals. The malt is creamy. Pretty drinkable.

Bottle. Beer of the Month Club. Slightly hazy deep golden-orange color with a small, quickly-dissipating, white head. Grainy aroma with some malt, hay, a hint of caramel and light floral notes. Sweetish grainy flavor with malt, vegetal hints and a mildly bitter finish. Light-medium-bodied. Drinkable but not great.

355ml bottle from Westholme Stores, Goring. Dark straw with a billowing cream head that falls back to thin film; spicy yeasty aroma; sweet with a flabby grainy body; and some spicy hops and honey to finish.

Sample at Ale Wine & Spirits in Powell on 01/20/2012. The beer is a clear pale golden color with a medium thin white head that recedes quickly. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of doughy malt and grassy hops. Light body with flavors of sweet malt, grain and more grassy hops. The finish is herbal and grassy with a mild hops aftertaste. Fairly average overall.
