Our Fordham Lager is a golden Bavarian-style lager, with a firm malty body, a subtle hop character, and a slightly sweet finish. Helles is the German word for light or pale, referring to the color of the beer. This is the everyday drinking beer for Germans in Munich. Fordham Lager is bottom-fermented, making it a lager beer, and has a medium to light-body. It has a clean, malt accented aroma and a malty finish with little hop bitterness. Our Fordham Lager is a very balanced beer, meaning that it is not too sweet and not too bitter. It is brewed mostly with pale malted barley and small amounts of Vienna and Munich malts, which increases the body and maltiness in the beer.

$1.49 for a 12-oz single. Deep golden to light amber, small white head. Slight grassy aroma. Flavor is full of grasses, but not strongly unpleasant. A bit hoppy, but not too much.

This is yet another brewery that I have never heard of, whose products I have only come in contact with through my beer club. What I like about the beer club is the chance to try unfamiliar beers - no matter how uninspiring. This brew was sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle and poured a golden amber color with a very small white head. The aroma was sour malt with a hint of tangy fruit. There was also a hint of your typical macro pale lager aroma to this as well. The flavor was sweet and had more malt presence than I was expecting - particularly on the finish. The brew was also thicker than I was expecting - which I found to be a pleasant surprise. There was a mild underlying macro taste that intensified as the beer warmed up. Overall a quaffable brew but certainly nothing spectacular.

Hazy golden colour with orange highlights and a frothy off-white head. Almost no bubbling action within the beer! Smells of grapes, malt and a bit of hops are very evident. Medium to Full-Bodied; Grapey taste with strong malt highlights and a nice hop background. The grape taste is still evident in the palate and leads way to a bit of metallic twang and some malt-bitterness. I am starting to really like this style...and this is a pretty good example of it. I don't know how it got such a low ranking! Overall, there is very little wrong with this beer...and quite amount of things right! If you are in the area, try finding this one and give it a shot...I'd like to see its score raised! I bought my twelve ounce bottle at Total Wine in McLean, Virginia.

Light copper; a little too crisp for the style; a touch of bready malt (there should be more), finishes wet.
