A small stout. Big little sister. A winter beer for all seasons. Strong in taste instead of ABV, allowing you to indulge yourself. There are big roasted malt notes of coffee with a delicate chocolate finish.

Frothy light brown head on dark brown coloured body. Malt, oats & liquorice aroma. Medium bodied, smooth & silky with a cloying back. Liquorice, malt, burnt, roasted & cereal tastes with a bitter lightly hopped finish. Nice & nice to get a beer in a bottle for a change.

Handpull cask at Whitelock's First City Luncheon Bar, Leeds. Slightly reddish brown and translucent with a slightly loose tan/khaki head. Berries in the aroma, a little bit of liquorice, some earth. Sweet taste slightly fruity with emphasis on dark malt and black liquorice. Quite a lot of chalky bitterness near the finish. Body's a bit watery and flat. It's okay.

(Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm, 24 Jan 2015) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of chocolate, coffee, a touch of liquorice and black rye bread. Malty, roasted taste with coffee, chocolate, roasted malt and a generous roasty bitterness in the finish. Medium body, quite dry. Solid and well made stout, and the balanced alcohol level makes it highly drinkable. Very nice.

Cask @ Akkurat. Best thing about this beer is its smoothness. A creamy semi-roasted beer with just enough sweetness to keep it drinkable and interesting.

On cask @ the Stockbridge Tap. Appearance - opaque black with an attractive creamy head. Nose - dark chocolate and burnt toffee. Some biscuits. Taste - more of the same with the toffee really dominating the chocolate in my opinion. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a decent dry finish. Overall - yeah, decent!

500ml bottle - I quite like this one. Black with a healthy beige foam that laces all the way through. The aroma has roasted malts and blackberries and a bit of coffee lurking there. A strong rich malty taste with chocolate and burnt toast and more rich fruits. A good body and a long finish. Slick and tasty. A very decent brew.
