Bottle from Inn At Home, Newbury. Aroma is sweet and perfumed. Dark fruit and marzipan and spice. It is golden brown, I guess. Thin creamy off-white head soon develops a bald patch. Initial touch of low key sweetness, followed by a spicy sourness. Underlying bitter core. Light bodied. Thin. Fizzy carbonation. Dry finish with a touch of the astringent. After the aroma I was expecting a rich English Strong Ale type of affair. However the final beer is more like on of those ESBs that oldschool breweries roll out for Christmas. And it's so thin. But after all that it's OK, better than a twiggy bitter.
