From the tap at the Local Taphouse, St Kilda on 27/1/2011 (part of a five beer tasting paddle). Dark reddish brown in colour. The aroma sweet malt, chocolate, toffee and mollasses. In the mouth, it’s a sweet one, with chocolate (milk rather than dark) and cola most prominent. There’s modest amount of hops at the back. A decent dark beer, but lacks depth.

Bottle (new packaging). Pours caramel, huge tan head. Smells nutty and chocolatey. Some roastiness. Fairly thin body, not too sweet - I had it fairly cold to begin with, but it’s still not too sweet now it’s warmed up to room temp. Ends with a bit of chewiness. Carbonation helps keep the mouthfeel end up clean. A little woody at the end, too. Not really complex, but well-balanced and pleasant.

Dark copper/ruby. Thick tan head, nice and creamy.Toasty malt dominated aroma, almost roasted. Quite sweet though, there’s definitely some toffee and caramel. It’s all quite subtle though.Flavour is mostly roasted malt. Again, its quite sweet. No bitterness, very little hops.Good creamy carbonation.

Bottled. A dark red beer with a thick brown head. The aroma is sweet malty combined with notes of caramel and nuts - and so is the flavor. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

Dark brown color. Light aroma, some caramel. Round mouthfeel, strong caramel flavor, well balanced by some chocolate malt, there is even a light smokey touch; the bitterness is a bit low. Quite good.

(Bottle 34,5 cl) Courtesy of highlandlad. Clear, warm, chestnut brown with a lively, beige head leaving laces. Lightly burned malt aroma. Medium body, sweetish, roasted malt with both a burned and a lightly smoked edge. Interesting. 180907

Dark chestnut brown. Brown sugary, toffeeish. Light body. Some more brown sugar as it rounds out. Hmmm...these are some lousy notes here.

Dark brown. Coffee aroma. Roasty with silky maltiness. Balanced sweetness. Some caramel flavour, cask character. A complex and subtle lager with a mild oaky finish.
