Draft at Craft Brewed. Pours a clearish copper with a finger of off-white head that lingers. Banana and clove nose with caramel aromas that dominate. Like a flaming banana dessert. Smooth and rich, with good carbonation and pillowy mouthfeel. More caramel banana on the palate, clove is muted. Good yeast character throughout. Light peppercorn on a sweet finish. Very nice. --- Beer merged from original tick of Augustus Weizen Doppelbock on 28 Sep 2018 at 21:54 - Score: 7. Original review text: Lovely caramel, banana nosevwith light toasted bread. Very nice weizenbock, caramel and bread on top of clove and dark fruits and red apple, with a modest floral bitterness and toasted (almost smoky) malt notes leading to a yeasty, bubblegum-laced finish. Never grows overly sweet, and the 8% ABV stays nicely hidden behind the medium-full body and easygoing texture. Classic sweet doppelbock nose, and the pour's a hazy amber with a thin off-white head and slight lacing. Tasty beer.
