High colour crystal malt gives this beer a darkly red hue and rich roasted flavours. We use Northdown hops for both bitterness and aroma, which gives a clean counterpoint to the power of the malt and a balanced fruity finish. A fantastic all year round dark ale in the best traditional style.

bottle at chriss ... deep brown ... soft sweet toffee malts ... fizzy... toffee malts ... soft toffee ... sweet ... light dark roast

Bottle conditioned, bought at Riverside Farmers Market, Cardiff. Dark copper in colour with a reddish tinge, slight white head and moderate carbonation. Lightly doughy aroma, with some red fruit and drinking chocolate. Malty flavour, with more fruits, dough, liquorice and milk chocolate. Finish was soft and slightly bitter. Good.
