Cask at Lych Gate, Wolverhampton – as Zest Heavenly Blonde Pours a pale yellow with a small white head and good lacing. Nose has corn and cereals, plus some hops. In the mouth the watery texture becomes clear. Taste is citrus and lemon with a hint of malts. Finish is slow to develop (you have to wait) but eventually there is a bit of bitterness. An OK beer, but nothing special.

4/10/2018. Bottle from Crafty Bottle, Lincoln. Pours golden with a small off-white head. Aroma of malt, hops, fruit, caramel and flowers. Medium sweetness, light to moderate bitterness. Moderate body, slight oily texture, soft carbonation.

GraviCask, shared with Finn at Camra’s National Winter Ales Festival. Clear yellow-gold body. Filmy layer. Lemony hops on the nose. Fruit hoppy taste, very dry. Mild bittersweet endnotes. Watered mouth feel. Pretty average (The Roundhouse, Derby 19.02.2016).

330ml bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours clear pale yellow, thin white head. Aromas are soapy and lemony. Taste is very bitter and dry, more soapiness. Not very good.

Half-pint at the 2014 Lincoln Beer Festival. Pours a light golden blond colour with a thin white head, lager like in fact. Pink grapefruit and lemon flavours in this citrus heavy brew: not my sort of thing.

On cask at the Grosvenor. Appearance - hazy golden with a proportionate head. Nose - dry and chalky. A hint of lemon. Taste - dry and completely lacking in generosity. Palate - light bodied with a dry texture and a long dry finish. Overall - there’s nothing heavenly a bout this blonde. She is a more akin to a battle axe.
