Dunkler Brotantrunk mit wenig malziger Note. Der Hintergrund ist etwas wässrig, erst spät kommt das Malz wieder in Gestalt röstiger, fast verbrannter Noten zum Vorschein. Minimal hopfig. 9/8/7/8//8

Draft at the brewpub. A very dunkel brown beer - seemingly unclear - with a tan head. The aroma has strong notes of caramel as well as roasted malt and medium notes of bread with brown sugar. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, and brown sugar, but also a weird off-flavor from wood or plastic, leading to a dry woody finish. There is something in the aftertaste, that I don’t like.

On tap at the brewery. Quite dark, almost black. Aroma modest malty, a bit smoky. Starts strong and malty, the finish is well balanced. No disturbing notes. Maybe the beer could be a bit drier, but it’s still really good!

(On tap) Unclear - almost like bog water - completely opaque with a tiny and dissipating off-white head. Aroma of roasted - surprisingly hard roasted malts - and an unexpected woodiness. Strange flavour as of some sort of Kräuterlikör. If it wasn’t for its sweetness this would come closer to a Schwarzbier or even a Stout. But then again still quite different. But not a bad drop. 020708
