A wonderful winter warmer. Deep amber, strong ale not for the faint hearted. A magical blend of malts with Styrian hops that give a mouth-watering hop aroma, smooth and warming malt flavours with a deep, spicy hop finish. Devilishly moreish.

Cask at the Harp. Dark amber colour with frothy off white head. Aroma is sweet and yeasty, bit of grainy malt too. Taste is yeasty, touch of fruit and some malt. Quite boozy feeling considering it is only 5%. Not wild about it, but was perfectly ok. --- Beer merged from original tick of Comfortably Numb on 09 Sep 2019 at 16:06 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 7. Cask at WHOAF 2015. It pours clear deep red-brown with a small white head. The nose is bitter-sweet, earthy, toasted grain, varnish, caramel, some ginger bread, spice and Christmas cake. The taste is rich, bitter, woody, biscuit malt, toasted grass, must, earth, over-ripe orchard fruits, wood, varnish, ginger and Christmas cake with a dry, lightly spice finale. Medium body and sot carbonation. Pretty decent.
