500ml bottle from Marks & Spencer. Pale golden pour, fizzy head dissipates. Sweet grainy aroma, cereal, honey. Taste is sweet up front, honey, bready. Then it gets dry and leaves a dull bitterness on the palate. On the verge of being watery.

500ml bottle. Pale clear gold, small white head, nice retention. Basic but fruity hop aroma with biscuit sweet malts, simple but pleasant. Taste has a semi-sharp citrus and fruitiness running through a simple malt biscuit profile. There is a good dose of bitterness in the finish to offset the sweetness. Light and refreshing. A typical English traditional provincial brewery beer but one of the decent examples.

Creamy white head on an unclear golden coloured body. Confectionery, sweet berries, light spices & caramel tastes with a pleasantly tangy finish. Decent.

Cask at City Tavern, Chester (not listed on RateBeer). Pours a pale straw with a small off-white head. Not much of an aroma – just some vague citrus. In the mouth it is sweet and slightly watery. Citrus is to the fore in the mouth, featuring lemon and grapefruit. Some floral hops and malts as well. It’s OK, but a bit bland.

Cask at Number Twenty2, Darlington. Pours clear pale gold with a thin white head. Aromas of light grain, light grass, light butteriness. Taste watery, and a bit too thin on the finish.
