Handpull cask at Mr Grundy’s Tavern, Derby. Amber, clear with very little head but impressive lacing. Stinks of rotten egg. Tastes of rotten egg. Watery palate. Ok, I’ve had a few ’Burton-y’ beers that are well-balanced and make good use of the water’s natural properties. This just stinks of sulphur.

Cask at the Vat & Fiddle, Nottingham on 28th May 2014. Copper with off-white lacing film. Leafy herby aromas. Biscuit malts and delicate tangy hoppiness in liquid, with touch of banana. Fruity finish with tart berries and a little nuttiness - hazelnut. Zingy mouthfeel and light body.

On cask @ the Haymarket Bar, Edinburgh. I’m very aware that this beer may not have been served in the best condition. The appearance was as expected but there was a hint of sour apple (unpleasant) and apart from that no other fruit character from the hops. The taste is no more exciting. I am not giving this as low a mark as my experience suggests as I will need to re-try on another occasion.
