Old rating from 15-11-15 - Had at the Apple & Pears tap house in St Helier, Jersey. Aromas of apple & sultana with malt. Taste is of apple, caramel, sultana and malty hops with a rich fig & plum base with malt & roast overtones leading to a strong finish.

Cask at Standing Order, Derby. Pours a dark copper with a small off-white head and good lacing. There’s malts and autumn fruits in the aroma. In the mouth it is quite sweet with malts, berry fruits and some traditional hops. Some bitterness in the finish. This is reasonable – but not particularly memorable.

Cask ale, half-pint shared with Finn at Rupert Brooke (JDW) in Rugby. Naked at the surface, hazy amber-orange body. Dotted spots on the glass. Toffee nose. Restrained taste profile of caramel malts and biscuit. On the sweet side of a bittersweet finish. Accepted. (12.02.2019).

500ml bottle [Thanks to Grumbo for the ship motif!]. Clear, redd-ish, dark amber colour with small to average, thick, creamy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Malty aroma with a touch of toffee, cheap chocolate, strawy-grainy interference, weak fruity hoppy overtones. Taste is slightly fruity hoppy, hints of red berries, minimally nutty, malty background with a touch of toffee; soft carbonation, creamy palate.
