Sunshine was the first beer ever brewed by Monty’s back in 2009. A golden, moderately hoppy, floral ale packed full of citrus aromas. With a wonderfully distinctive, dry finish.

Cask at Borough Arms, Crewe. Pours golden straw with a medium sized foamy off-white head and excellent lacing. Not much aroma initially, just some vague citrus – but it becomes a lot stronger after a while with hints of melon too. In the mouth it is sweet with a creamy texture. Floral hops and citrus dominate the flavour but there are also traces of lemon and mango. Some bitterness comes through later as well, leading to a dry and slightly sticky finish. This is quite reasonable – but has too much citrus for my liking.

Bottle. Nose has a hint of Brett if I didn't know better. Taste is corn, caramel, floral and a very dry finish. The yeast is fruity and again the faint hint of Brett. Very interesting

Panda at home, thanks to Graham Grumbo, 14/09/24. Almost clear golden orange with a fast escaping white head. Nose is straw, grains, orange zest, hedgerow. Taste comprises pale malts, hint of apple, grass, hedgerow, herb. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Twiggy gold ... not great.
