Cask at Old Coffee House (4.8% though). It pours clear golden with a thick white head. The nose is sweet grain, dough, ginger, pepper, earth, preserved lemon and straw The taste is bitter, ginger, dough, pithy lemon, touch of soap, pepper and straw with a dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Not a whole lot to it, but drinkable enough. Decent, but far from Brodies’ best.

Cask at the Cross Keys, Covent Garden. Poured a crystal clear straw colour with a frothy white head. The aroma malt yeast, light ginger. The flavour is light bitter with a light skunky malt, buttery light ginger palate. Light bodied with soft carbonation.

Old Coffee House. Unconvinced this is a new beer for Brodies but then the barman tells me it’s made with Coriander as well - so maybe. Who knows! Very hazy amber beer, tidy pale cream - tan head. Nose is a little tangy - bordering suspiciously on vinegar. Palate is light and dry. Mild ginger and herbs - some sourish tang. Finishes dry. Not sure what’s going on here - is the beer off or is the alleged coriander skewing everything? A bit too weird - couldn’t finish it.

Cask at the Old Coffee House, London. Pours cloudy golden-brown with a fine, white cream head. Gorgeous ginger nose with some lightly toasted malt accents. Light to medium sweet flavor, wonderful ginger character, a bit of toasty bread. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly drying on the finish with true ginger notes, accompanied by faint dry citrus and toasty bread. Just a great ginger beer start to finish.

Cask at the Old Coffee House, Soho - 11/09/12. Hazy golden orange with a thin off-white head. Ginger dominates the nose with a little bitter orange peel and some herbal tones in the background. Sweet and sharp ginger hunks in the taste with light medicinal tones, mango chutney, spice and a sugary syrup flavour. Medium bodied but quite thick in the mouth for a 4.2% beer.
