330ml bottle. Clear, yellow-ish, pale golden colour with average, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, snow-white head. Fruity and minimally funky aroma, hints of orange, dill, a touch of brine. Taste is dry, moderately sweet pale malty undertones, fruity notes of orange and mandarine, apricot, a spicy touch of brine, white wine.

From a 500ml bottle on 20/3/2016 (shared with Butz). Pours a slightly cloudy straw with a huge fluffy white head. The nose is primarily Belgian yeast. In the mouth, it’s very sweet, with bready malt, citrus fruit, banana and spice. Has a slightly syrupy texture with moderate carbonation. Very easy drinking and doesn’t really present as 6.5%. A very nice brew.

Bottle. Fuggle & Golding, Ilkley. Clear gold. Film of bright, white head. Sweet, fruity, bready malts. Banana esters. Hint of grated lemon rind. Taste is bready sweet. Turns fairly bitter. Palate feels a bit chewy and overly thick. A bit claggy. Finishes with those sweet esters, and a lemony, pithy bitter close. Ok.

330ml bottle from Bottle Bank, Falmouth. Pours clear gold with creamy head. Aroma is vibrant sweet yeast. Taste bears a good strong sweetness with pillowy vanilla / banana notes. Not getting the low scores below. I thought this was quite nice.

Almost clear gold beer, tidy cream colour head. Palate is smooth and semi dry, modest fine carbonation. Sweet dried fruits and sweet floralness. Gets a touch sticky sweet. Mild spice and bread. Smooth dry finish. A little stodgy but fine.

Keg at The Hanging Bat. Pours clear gold, thin white head. Aromas are bready, lemon, light white pepper. Saisony really, but nice. Taste is light sweet, touch of honey. Clean finish. Not bad.

Binny’s LP 330ml ($5): Purchased this as Golden Ale, but it said Ardennes elsewhere on the bottle, so I figured it is the same thing. Pour is nice. Slightly hazy body with a nice solid white head. Aroma is overflowing with fruitiness and Belgian yeast. Taste is really, really Belgian. Pretty sweet. Kind of coats your mouth a wee bit. A nice subtle hoppiness underlies this whole thing. Something is a tad off, but this is still pretty good. First beer from NZ for me.
