Tap at The Twelve Taps, Whitstable. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy off white head. The aroma is sweet caramel malt, liqourice, smoke, light hop. The flavour is moderate sweet with a smooth dry chocolate, coffee, liqouice bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. A superb stout I must say.

At GBF. Pale greyish beige, thinly moussy head, blackish robe but in fact still fully translucent very dark mahogany. Aroma of caramel, treacle, hazelnuts, coffee with sugar, ’Haagse hopjes’, dried fig. Restrained dried fruitiness, sweet but more in a non-cloying sugary way, caramelly with a leathery accent, creamy mouthfeel but obviously not thick (as is to be expected from a 5,5% ABV beer), light toasted bitterness in the end. Actually quite close to a very classic English sweet stout (think Mackeson’s) and a good one at that, but I assume this can be a bit disappointing to those expecting a dry stout.

Thank you for sharing! Sampled 330 ml. can @ Gents Bierfestival 2016. Dark brown to black, little mocha head. Nose is stale coffee, bit too umami, low licorice. Taste is milk chocolate, lactose ,sweet coffee, sugar, umami,… Decent but not exemplary. Lactose & cheap milk chocolate body.

33cl can, not sure why there is another version that is retired. BB 01.03.2017.

Keg at The Berry Walmer. Black beer lasting beige head. Coffee led dry stout. Dry and beautifully drinkable. Stout is not normally my style but this is coffee dry and some blackcurrant on the back side. Excellent
