Cask at Old Dolphin, Derby Pours a very dark brown with a cream head. Nose is unremarkable - just some vague hints of cocoa. In the mouth it is a bit watery, but there is plenty going on. Mainly sweet with malts, biscuits and caramel, but also hints of bitterness with apples and coffee. Finish is also divided between sweetness on the tongue and bitterness on the roof of the mouth. A very nice complex beer for such a low strength.

Cask at the Plough, Radford on 28th September 2018. Deep, thick sepia brown with tan foam and full lacing. Malty aroma with earthy pungency. Intensely malty and bitter in-mouth, and an engaging bitter finish. Light to medium bodied with a very pleasant texture. Absolutely exquisite.

Pours a deep dark brown colour with a small tan head. Aroma is deep roasted malts, and a little chocolate. Similar deep roasted malt taste, some burnt sugars and bitter coffee flavours and a dryness in the finish.

Handpull cask at the High Cross (JDW), Leicester. Dark brown, slightly translucent, with a cream/khaki head. Light coffee and chocolate malt aroma. Sickly taste: bitter chocolate malt with posset. Bitter finish with astringent Milo in the aftertaste. Some serious issues here.
