Oaked American Red Ale

Loakal Red® is California born and bred, and only available in our fine state. A bold American Red ale, dripping with citrusy Centennial hops and mellowed by a touch of oak, it has aromas of toffee, citrus, crushed herbs, vanilla, and fresh-sawn oak. The result is a beer that is intricate, yet unassuming.

Slightly hazy red - brown beer with big fluffy pale tan head. Nose of citrus sherbet and vanilla oak, nice! The head is lovely mix of sherbet and dry wood. The beer is soft and dry with more lemon citrus sherbet and cream. Dry finish with the citrus turning slightly bitter. Unusual, tasty - outstanding!

Bottle sample at Sour&Bitter May 2012. Beer in the glass looks good, copper coloured. Hoppy-soapy aroma. Starts mild, dry, almost a bit washy. More and more dry and hoppy. Bitter background. Finish with some grasy notes. Quite balanced. Not bad!
