0.33 l bottle from ’De Molen’, bottled in August 2016. Clear, very dark red to black with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish, sourish, slightly roasty and moderately fruity aroma of cocoa, coffee, blueberry and rhubarb. Sweetish, a bit sourish, moderately roasty and slightly fruity taste of cocoa, coffee powder, hazelnut, blueberry and maybe hints of rhubarb, followed by a short, slightly roasty-bitter, a bit tart finish. Medium body, slightly creamy, a bit astringent and moderately effervescent mouthfeel, soft to average carbonation. Quite tasty, fortunately just a touch of acidity, well-balanced actually.

Bottle @ home (7.5%!). Black color. Beige head with good retention. Aroma’s: roasty, fruit, a bit umami. Retronasal it’s primarily fruit, some roasted malts, drop. Flavor is light sweet, roasted, with some fruity sourness. Medium bodied. Finishes a bit dry, light bitter. I think I could recognize the blueberry, but not the rhubarb.

Bottle from Biernavigatie, bottling date 11/08/2016 BB 11/08/2017, large sample. Almost clear copper to dark brown color, medium frothy head. Aroma of roasted malts, some coffee, chocolate, bit licorice, blueberries, slight lactic. Roasty bitterness, dark fruit, slight lactic notes. Bit dry in the finish, together with quite some fruit. Slight peppery note from the saison yeast. I think I prefer it with a cleaner yeast though, so the nice chocolate, roast and fruity notes shine more.
