Bottle from Aldi. Clear gold thin layer of bubbles. Slightly hoppy aroma touch of pale malt sweetness. Bit of bitterness on the finish. Ok if unexciting.

Pale yellow complexion with plenty of pale ale character in both aroma and taste. Little head and a medium body.

500ml bottle: best before June 2013, poured into a vase shaped ’Old Speckled Hen’ badged pint glass in May 2012. Blonde by name, blonde by nature: this is a pale orange beer, lager/pilsner like in appearance. Steady but thin white head of bubbles on top, gave off some lacing but not a huge amount. Weak aromas of slightly smoked hops, peat maybe? The smell became more grassy as the beer warmed. The taste was also fairly weak and the body thin, where have they hidden the 4.2% ABV? Not in the flavours that’s for sure. Refreshing and bland: glad it was cheap to buy.

50cl bottle from Aldi. Amber with a ring of white head; slightly musty, grainy aroma; watery with a grainy texture and a touch of caramel and artificial citrus flavouring; damp cardboard finish. Not good.

50cl bottle @ 1780 restaurant. Pours golden with a small head. The nose has sweet pale malt. The taste is of lemon and custard - nice. The palate has a light to medium structure and texture with an agreeable clean finish. Overall, a good solid beer.

Bottle, courtesy of fonefan. It pours a clear, dark golden with a small, off-white head. A nice citrusy, piney hoppyness blends with bready caramel malts and a touch of berries in the aroma. The flavor is pretty much the same, with the added joy of bitterness. Medium body. Not much to look at and not much of a mouthfeel here, but aroma and flavor is quite nice, and that’s the most important part. 110318
