Bottle. Pours black with gushing brown head. Nose/taste of coffee, exotic fruits, lemon grass, saison yeast, cocoa, licorice, Brett and citrus. Medium body. Somewhat dry in the finish just after the Brett touches the palate.

On Tap@Craft Beer, London. One for the Roamnys in the house ?! Black looks with a wee (not literally) tan head. Nose was well endowed with hoppy and roast notes alongside some dark chocolate/fruits. Nice. Pleasing fullish mouthfeel. Loads going on in the sweetish flavour, yet in no way overdone and a good balance of the roast, choc and grassy hop was struck. Dry bitter finish. Fine collaborative work. Something vaguely unnerving about that bottle label mind...

Bottle @ Ørsted Ølbar on October 14. Pours black with a thick brown head that slowly dissipates. Smell is roasted malts, with some citrus hints and the smell of sour, not very fresh, coffee. Taste is roasted malts, liquorice, coffee grounds, coffee, peat and hay. It’s subtly sour. Quite interesting and not what I expected.

Tap @ Beer Temple. Almost black color with beige dense head. Smells sour, brett notes, roasty, slightly sweet. Flavor is sweetish and a bit sour. Finishes dry, roasted & bitterish. Not being a fan of brett, this was actually quite nice.

50 cl bottle @ home, BBE 04/2013
Aroma is sour with earthy notes, also some hops. Flavour has also lots of earthy notes typical to Stillwater ales. Some hops are there too. No roastiness can be observed, but the malt becoming sticky at the end tells me that this is not typical sour ale. And more and more sticky this becomes towards the end even though I had just half of the bottle. Far from a stout. There should be a category of sour stout for this one.

Draft at ACBF 2011. Pours dark brown with a light, filmy head. Dark malt nose, mild roast and sugar. Smooth flavor, some roast and dark sugar. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Mild warmth in the finish, some sharp, roasted malts. Very good beer.

On tap at the Beer Temple, Amsterdam 30.09.11 on a wonderfully sunny day (yet again this holiday) Pours pitch black with a dense head of foamy tan bubbles. Oily thick and with a real tarry edge and some hoppiness as I expected shine’s through the thick black maltiness, it’s good. A6 A5 T7 P4 Ov13 3.5
