The character pictured on the front of this label is Jonathan Holmberg. Jonathan has been a bartender at what now is Jackie O’s for the past 15 years. In 2004 he helped me get my foot in the door and has been a dear friend ever since. Jonathan is a true eccentric and this beer is nothing short of that. Our robust porter was placed into Cabernet barrels eight months ago. Wild yeast and Lactobacillus were added to the barrels to give the beer a tart edge and some very rustic and fruity qualities. Sixty pounds of tart cherries were added to each barrel to take this beer in a unique direction. Notes of cherries, oak, chocolate, wine, and leather all find a special spot in this brew. Cab Cherry Man is a beer that can stand up to the antiquing, joking, halloween-loving, and sweet personality that is Jonathan’s. Cheers, buddy! -Brad Clark, brewer

650 ml bottle, thanks to ClarkVV on this one! Date of 08/ 15. Deep brown / almost black pour, almost no head. Aroma is just faint cherry, mild lactic acid.
Flavor is more lactic acid note underneath a mild cherry sourness. Light vinegar.... Ummm no.

8/15 bottle, drunk 11/28/15. Thanks to JStax.
Unclear violet-tinged ruby with a dark beige head that recedes to ring.
Meaty cherries, tart and with plentiful vanilla. Chocolate intrudes with a heavy creaminess and light acetic character. Not much beer character. Pretty fruit dominated.
Thin, acetic and acidic flavor is very lacking in any maltiness. Ultra dry and were it given to a tight carbonation and creamy consistency, i could deal with all of this naked acidity. Grainy, astringent, heavily acidic and just not anything id care to ever drink.

This is a rather light brown ale with a bit of red. just a little bit of carbonate. Whoa, loads of cherry aroma with a tart lacto bite. Lots of cherry, a bit of sour raspberry, wood, good bitterness, some nice maltiness here with some really nice finish. Really refreshing. the color had me thinking this was going to be pretty malty. instead, really special.

2011 Vintage bottle 360/384. Aroma has medium chocolate, dark caramel and toffee with faint roast. Light acidity with moderate cherry, berry and cassis. Light alcohol spice. Pours brown with a thin tan head that quickly recedes to the edges and disappears. Light lacing and a sheet of alcohol. Flavor has a moderate cherry character with quite a bit of berry and cassis. Some light oak notes with medium chocolate, dark caramel and toasted bread notes. Light alcohol spice in the finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall a pretty nice beer that has held up really well. A high alcohol version of a flemish style red with a bit more cherry character. A nice beer.
