Poured from a 22 oz bottle; black cap version. I thought I bought this in 2009, but maybe it was 2010. Aroma is malt forward with lots of caramel and toffee; some lighter toasted bread, chocolate, nuts and honey. Fairly fruity with raisin, plum, prune, fig and cherry. Light phenolic notes with hints of alochol spice. Pours a fairly clear brown color with some auburn hues and amber notes. Medium sized, medium thick, tan head that recedes fairly quickly to the edges where it lingers in clumps. Light lacing and moderate length legs. Flavor is odd with a moderate sweetness and dry finish. i guess there is a faint tartness, but I don’t really pick up on it. Very fruity with tons of raisin notes as well as some lighter fig, prune and cherry. Moderate malt notes, but lesser than the fruit with caramel, toasted bread, chocolate and toffee. Light honey and oxidation coming through. Medium bitterness and some light alcohol spice. Mouthfeel is medium to medium full bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low, but present alcohol warmth. Overall, better than I was expecting based on reports of infection, but its also an odd beer. This beer might taste more like chocolate covered raisins than any other beer I have tried, but it is like the sweetness was first sucked out. It lacks the mouthfeel and sweetness needed to carry the flavor profile.

Bottle at Toronado, February 2014. (my first beer from this brewery) Hazy dark amber with a small white head. Sweet with malt, toffee, dried fruit, light hops and some yeast. Almost a full body with some alcohol in the finish. A drinkable beer but also a slight disappointment.

22oz bottle pours a hazy, caramel amber. Nose of raisin and metal. Flavor of malt and rusty nails. Oxidized and gross.

Courtesy of markwise. It pours up clear amber with copper edges and thin mocha head. The aroma is brown sugar, cinnamon, a bit of anise spice, cherry hard candy prunes and searing heat. The taste is similar with brown sugar, prunes, sweet cherry flavored hard candy (that borders on cherry cough syrup) and a bit of molasses. This is too sweet for me.

(Bottle, Oliver Twist, Stockholm, 4 July 2011) Hazy, dark amber colour with brief head. Malty, fruity, slightly sourish nose with caramel, dried fruit, raisins and cherries in brandy. A slight oxidization? Malty, fruity taste with notes of caramel, dried fruit, orange peel, hints of cellar and a balanced citric bitterness in the finish. Medium body, slightly sweetish, with alcohol fairly well hidden. There are some indications of a beer not in top shape, but it’s decent and interesting.

Bottled. A hazy deep amber beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma has notes of malt, dusty hops, and fruits. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, fruit, phenols, and alcohol, leading to a dry phenolic finish.
