Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of wavers1. Pours a cloudy reddish amber with an off-white head. Very sweet overripe fruit in the nose and yeast and friendly phenols. Medium body, carbonation is a little low, great overripe and fairly exotic fruit notes with a good hoppiness in the finish. The heavy alcohol is well hidden. Damm close to a good Quad. Nice. 230211

Bottle from Bottle Barn. Pours dark murky amber with a foamy/bubbly beige/tan head. Aroma is sweet and dark fruit. Med body. Goes thin rapidly as mild carbonation leaves. Flavor is cooked dark fruit over some dark roast malt. Finish is pretty much raisin residue, but in a fairly bitter way. The heat is not hitting me at all, so that’s one good thing. It also belches rather pleasantly. I think it’s going to be doing some changes as it warms.

Bottled at Stockholm Beer Festival. Hazy nut brown, small head. Fruit nose with lots of toffee. Medium-full bodied with plenty of caramel, salt and hops. Fruity and a bit sticky. Growing bitterness. A big beer, but not with a lot of character.

22oz bottle from City Beer. Pours syrupy resulting in a murky brown body and a thin off-white head. Aroma of aroma of coconut, brown sugar, raisins, vanilla and a ton of esters (banana and some clove). Huge candied date and dark fruits. Cotton candy, toffee, treacle, vanilla ice cream. Tongue depressors, caramel, biscuit. Taste is vanilla, booze, raisins, very vinous (maybe even some sour), dates, prunes, plum skin tannins, very intense and complex. Not overly boozy, but noticeable. Estery, lots of vanilla, banana. Big, but not under-attenuated at all, on the dry side of things if anything. Mellow already, needs no age. Super vinous and long duration. Medium to high bubbles. Well made. Eric, ask Bill to ship you some for the DFW crew.

City Beer Store. Maybe, a bit too big for its own good. This beer was a jumble of big, sweet flavors. They didn’t exactly come together perfectly for me, but it was fun to try. The beer is a very dark ruby/brown with a sticky beige head. Raisins, honey, sweet prunes, brown sugar, soy sauce, peaches, caramel. Lots going on but quite sweet and sort of heavy on the palate. Some spice is detectable. It’s just not all good. Some booze but good for the abv.

A hazy brown ale with a thin off white head. Pleasant aroma of candy sugar, plums, burned wood and licorice. In mouth, a rich oily candy sugar with molasses, licorice and warming alcohol. On tap at brewpub August 19, 2009.
