For my first “Side Project” beer, I thought that I would take a crisis and turn it into a beer. Brewers from around the world are having a hard time getting their hands on hops and the prices are through the roof!

With all that said, this beer (Hop Shortage Ale) has an inviting golden color with an aroma of freshly picked hops. I spared no expense on the type of hops I used.

I hope that you enjoy my first “Side Project.”

Cheers!

Slutfest 6: Toffee, orange, and grain nose. Clear amber, medium yellow head. Tea, caramel, slightly vegetal. Medium body, soft carbonation. No hops but none expected given the age. Of the several cellared side project series beers sampled at Slutfest, this fared the worst, which is not surprising. I really hate myself for not having this fresh, because it was probably wonderful

Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma has notes of over ripe fruits. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, fruit, and dusty hops.

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of sincereNC. Pours a cloudy and almost opaque amber with an off-white head. The nose has a little citrusy hops and an oxidized caramel touch. Medium body, sweet fruitiness, caramel and licorice allsorts. Clearly the hops have oxidized by now. The finish is not all that bitter. 230211

pours cloudy orange with white head. Aroma. For a hop shortage beer, this one packs quite a lot of malts. Add some citrus hops to the nose. Taste, caramel malts with floral - pine hops. Very smooth for an IPA, with a bitter hoppy finish. There is also notes of grapefruit with faint zest of citrus and a very sweet almost white raisin feel that remains in the background.

Chewy Terrapin aroma with vaguely bright fruits. Hazy blonde. Crisp, bitter hops. Decent balance though it still has some of that Terrapin chewiness. The finish is off-dry and the bursting hop notes have more or less disappeared by this point.

Bottle courtesy of juiceisloose. Pours golden orange with white head. Citrusy hop aroma. Mildly sweet caramel with a soapy pine hop flavor. Medium body with average carbonation. This just wasn’t doing anything for me.

Pours a clear deep orange/amber with a tall, long lasting white head. Piney citrus aroma. Lightly bitter with a good supportive malt base. Very nice!
