Bottle, at Patricks. It’s an unclear brown beer topped by an off-white head. Some cellar and chocolate in the aroma, quite malty, with some hops, but they are a bit anonymous. Well balanced aroma though. The flavor has a nice chocolate touch, malty sugar and a balancing bitterness. Full body. Bitter finish with chocolate. I enjoyed drinking it, but it’s definately not a big beer in any way, and obviously a bit aged. 100213

Small offwhite head does not last. Deep dark hazy red body. Malty spicy peppery aroma with fruity notes. Dry-sweetish earthy fruity peppery taste with roasty grainy notes. Mild mouthfeel. Mid-bodied. Dry peppery dusty roasty aftertaste with fruity wooden notes. Quite bitter. Nice, but actually fairly mild. (0.33l bottle, Håndverkerstuene.)

330ml bottle shared with KnutAlbert. Has got a Nøgne Ø mark on the label. Ruby-brown body, slightly hazy. A few bubbles on the surface. Aroma of shy, dry malts. Rounded taste of roasted caramel added by spiced fruits wrapped up in a bittersweet ending. Smooth and rather refreshing (Håndverkerstuene, Oslo 19.03.2010).

330 ml bottle. Dark, reddish brown body with a tan head. Aroma is mild malty, some caramel and hints of fruity hops. Flavor is smooth malty, some chocolate and rather mild hops. Smooth, quite mild and easy drinkable, still rather tasty for a 4,5 % ABV beer. Nothing extraordinary, but well made.

330 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger, as "Tamamura Honten Nøgne Ø Not So Mild Ale - Harvest Brew Fresh Hop" (the rest of the info on the label is in Japanese). Murky dark brown colour, moderate to low greyish beige head. Nice but moderate aroma of mild ale malts, chocolate malts and some fruity hops. The flavour is fairly fruity, but has also a moderate roastiness with mild coffee and chocolate notes. The finish has sufficient hops to make it "not so mild". No masterpiece perhaps, but highly drinkable.

Bottled. Hazy nut brown, small head. Rich sweaty pear and grapefruit aroma. Mid-sweet and medium bodied with clean rounded mouthfeel. Gently roasty but richly hoppy. Marked bitter finish. Not so mild perhaps, but pretty darn good.

Tokyo Real Ale Festival. Looks nice. Hoppy, spicy, caramel aroma. A bit faint. Quite hoppy for a mild, but a nice smooth caramel malt behind it. Good malt complexity, with biscuits, grains. Smooth and tasty with decent hop bite at the finish. Great Balance. Nice hoppy finish, not quite up to the hype but decent stuff.

I’m going to deviate from the previous raters and say this was one heck of a mild ale. Mahogany in color with a firm beige head. Sweet malts, light molasses, plenty of fruit notes, and some toasted malts in the aroma. I’d say it was a bit too sweet of an aroma, but still very inviting. Smooth, medium bodied. The flavor is of lightly toasted malts, caramel, sweetness but lighter than the aroma would lead you to believe, with nice fruits. Finish is where the hops finally become noticeable and give a pleasant hop bite but not too strong. I wish it lasted a bit longer than it does, though. Malty, toasty, and very enjoyable. I could have sessioned this one all night. (Cask at Craft Beer Bar, Yokohama)

Dark chestnut color. Decent chocolatey, somewhat earthy nose. Palate is surprisingly hoppy and a bit heavier than expected (4.5%?), but nice balancing act. Finish was a bit disappointing as everything abruptly stopped after a couple seconds. Nice, but not going to blow you away.
