Bottle. Has a nice aroma but more mild then I would have expected. Nice chocolate color. Taste was also mild even though it was pleasant. I would recomend this one for drinking more then once but there are much better Dopplebocks.

Deep brown color with a roasted malt aroma. Flavor is roasted malt sweetness, slight toffee, earthy, almost like a slight whisky taste. Nice and rich.

Appearance: Black color with a fine tan head that gives a lovely lacing on the glass.
Aroma: Very fruity and chocolate.
Palate: Medium + body. Balanced sweetness and an ok bitterness. Average to soft carbonation.
Taste: Balanced chocolate, coffee and a bit to heavy fruity.
Overall impression: A bit to much fruity, otherwise ok.

12 oz bottle. Pours an extremely deep crimson with a tan head. Nice fruity aroma, cherry and plum, a bit of breadiness. Toasty malt flavor, smoky and light molasses, hint of dark fruit. Frankly I think this is a pretty nice one.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 2/3/2012. Pours fairly clear dark reddish brown color with a 2 finger dense khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass; with moderate streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, raisin, prune, toast, toffee, chocolate, molasses, floral, dark bread, light roast, light nuttiness, and yeast earthiness. Nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark malt notes with yeast fruitiness; with good strength. Taste of caramel, toast, dark bread, raisin, prune, toffee, molasses, chocolate, roast, light nuttiness, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of caramel, toast, toffee, chocolate, molasses, dark bread, raisin, prune, roast, light nuttiness, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of dark and roasted malt flavors with a light-moderate fruitiness; with nice robustness and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a creamy and fairly slick mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with no warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very good doppelbock! Nice balance, robustness, and complexity of dark malt flavors; and very smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle at Bishop’s Arms, Stockholm, Vasagatan
Dark brown color, clean, with some amber-red reflex, and medium sized beige compact head. The aroma is quite American, the yeast produced more fruity esters than a true German Bock; there is also some caramel and light roasted malt. The mouthfeel is lean, dry, partially smooth; roasted malt and dark caramel flavor, with a trace of liquorice.
A good beer, nothing to do with Doppelbocks (lighter, with a bit too much roasted malt, and the liquorice).
