Bishops Finger Kentish Strong Ale is a connoisseur's beer with excellent credentials and pedigree. Fashioned on a firm, fruity foundation of Crystal malt, this rich, ruby-coloured Kent classic belies its burly appearance with a complexity of flavour. Mouth-filling fruit, prunes, plums and dried apricot spiked with palate-prickling pepper, cinnamon and a soft bitter blood-orange finish.

Bottle from my local off-licence ‘Wine Rack’. Pours a clear chestnut colour with a medium sized creamy white head. Aromas of dark fruits, toasty bread, a touch of caramel and spice. Taste has more dark fruits, caramel, burnt brown bread, spice, some added roasty notes and a hint of nuts. A nice earthy hop bitterness on the finish. Medium to full body with a smooth oily mouthfeel. Good beer.

Bottle from local Aldi. Has a restrained aroma of malts with traces of nuts and marmalade. Pours a bright copper with a small off-white head. Hops are to the fore in the mouth, but there’s also plenty going on underneath. Hints of toffee, orange peel, raisins and malts with a somewhat cloying texture. Bitterness lasts in the finish, but there’s still fruit there as well. Certainly an enjoyable beer, and very drinkable.

Bottle, BBE in 12 months. Dark amber pour, small head which dissipates quickly. Aroma of roasted malts, toffee, a little nutty. Mild carbonation and body. Taste of deep roasted malts, a little fruitiness of dark berries which adds a pleasant balance, some sweetness which is just enough to counter a moderately high bitterness which is present from start to finish. This packs a decent punch and although is not as sessionable as Shepherd Neame’s other bitter ‘Spitfire’ I think it’s a better beer overall.

Aroma and taste: earthy English hops, floral, malt biscuits, fruity, a bit jam, medium bitter, drinkable, not bad.

Rocky tan head on a clear caramel coloured body. Malt, demerara & spice aroma. Medium bodied, sharp on the tongue with a full feel on the back & clean finish. Malt, sugar, spices, stone fruit & tastes with clean hoppy finish.

White bottle. Dark amber color, frothy head. Hoppy licorice aroma and flavor. Apricot. Medium bodied. Hopbitter, blackcurrant aftertaste. Fine, well balanced ale with a lot of taste.

fajne dość nietypowe piwo , piana utrzymuje się bardzo długo w smaku czuć goryczkę później troszkę łagodnieje , ogólnie napitek bardzo specyficzny i nie każdemu będzie pasował :]
