Straight from the PET growler. Aroma and taste: grain, crackers, grassy and herbaceous hop. Light sweet, light to medium bitter. Mouth feel: light to medium body, lively carbonation. Summary: pretty basic.

0,5 l screw cap bottle from Erzengel. Thanks a lot! Looks like a dutch Genever bottle. Pours out clear golden with a two finger off white head. Looks good. Strong grainy bitter smell. Taste is less but also dominating grainy with a dry little bit metallic bitterness. Malty in the background. Okay, but nothin´ special for a german Pilsener.

Thanks to Erzengel for that one! Bottle looks very simple. Beer in the glass zippy, small head. Starts mild, malty, modest dry. Light metallically. Average pilsner.

Geruch hopfig, getreidig, grasig. Geschmack hopfig, grasig, lang anhaltende Bitterkeit.

International Green Week, Berlin 2012: our second day and Hall 20 is full of goodies, products from Niederschen, Bremen, Baden-Wurttemberg, Thuringen, Hessen, Rheinland-Pfalz all competing with each other. I’m drawn to a bar selling this beer: can’t remember why though! 0.3 Litre draft glass of a light golden Pilsner, usual clean and bright looks; regular thin snowy white head that didn’t stay too long. Normal un-smelling Pilsner; gets my standard score of 3 for that. Dry and obviously refreshing (like all Pilsners?) this had a hop bitterness and a slight metallic twang initially, which I’m pleased to say disappeared although I thought the body harsh rather than crisp. Difficult to quantify the whole tasting: the beer grew on me, but has a flaw in its make-up: the brewing process or the main ingredient (water) doesn’t sit right somehow.

Bottle, courtesy of fonefan. A clear one, quite pale golden, and topped by a small, off-white head. A bit boring on the nose, but there’s a quite pleasant grassy, piney hoppyness and pale malts. A bit sweetish in the flavor, still quite dy. Medium body. Nicely carbonated. There’s a nice bitterness in the flavor, with pale malts as a backdrop. A quenching, straightforward pilsner that tastes good too. 110129
