Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a slightly hazy medium amber with a thick white creamy head and lots of glass-hugging lace. The aroma is of course rather hoppy and with a little malt. The flavour is all about those American hops too! It’s a wonderfully smooth bitter taste, with a little liqourice and some maltiness too. This is not a dry, spicy IPA and will apeal to those people who like a bitter beer, but feel that sometimes American IPA’s are over-hopped. This is yet another Arbor classic!

330ml bottle from BeerRitz. Pours a clear copper orange-amber colour, frothy white head and aroma of caramel & fruity melon. Taste is sweet caramel malt, melon with warming alcohol notes and an earthy bitterness. Oily mouth feel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, quite OK.

Cask at the Euston Tap 01/02/13. Hazed golden amber with a thin bubbly off white head. Nose is caramel, light piss, fruits. Taste comprises hops, fruits, sweet sugars, pineapple. Medium bodied, a little chewy, sweet finish. Drinkable OK stuff but a little over sweet, not enough bitterness, balance not quite there for me.

(Cask at Gallows Bird Real Ale Festival ’13) The beer poured amber and clear. Its head was small and white. Aroma had alcohol, pine and grass. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were pine, grass, alcohol, canned pears, sweetness, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was hoppy, sweet and bitter. Too much alcohol presence but otherwise good strong cask ale.

Cask @ Gallows Bird Real Ale Festival 2013

Pours clear orange with a bubbly head. Aroma of citrusy hops, fruits, hints of malts. Taste is slightly watery, but quite hoppy, sweetish and caramely with notes of fruits and lemon. Finish is sweetish with long lasting fruity hoppy notes. Nicely hopped West Coast IPA.
