The Royal Albert Bridge is one of Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s greatest engineering triumphs, and the iron marvel is still going strong today. Hidden under layers and layers of paint is Brunel’s mysterious Golden Bolt… at least that’s what they say.

No one’s ever found Brunel’s elusive rivet, but discerning beer drinkers will uncover the subtle peach notes in our award-winning Golden Bolt, a wonderfully soft, citrus flavoured session ale with a light, dry finish.

Cask, Dispensary, Liverpool. Pallid gold with minimal head. Not a huge amount in the aroma, some vague malt maybe. Unremarkable flavour with reasonable balance. Easy enough drinking. The restrained hoppage rescued this fom the depths of mediocrity.

(Re-rate, cask at St Urhos Pub, 20180509) The beer poured deep amber and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had fruitiness, soap and citricness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, spiciness, creamy toffee and bitterness. Aftertaste was hoppy and bitter. A pleasant hoppy brew. Old score: 5-3-7-3-12

(Cask at St. Urho’s Pub, Helsinki, on 2008-09-11) Pale golden. Clear. Quite dense long lasting white head. Fruity and hoppy light nose. Quite light palate with little carbonation. Malts, yeast, hint of salty liquorice, bitterness and fruitiness in taste.

Cask-conditioned at the Bag O’Nails, Bristol 5/6/07. This was a very pleasant session bitter. Golden coloured with a lacy white head. Plenty of grassy hops in the aroma with grainy flavours and a long bitter finish.
