I got a filled 22oz bottle in a trade with nutbrown. Thanks Alan!
Nice dark brown pour with a 1 finger head of tannish foam. Lots of lacing here and good head retention until about 3/4s of the way through my glassful.
I smell some roasted malt, chocolate, some coffee, and a touch of smoke. Overall, a sweetish smell.
Yum. A very nice taste. First thing I notice is a flavourful coffee that expands into some chocolate, roasted malt, a good smokiness, some sweet malt that offsets the coffee bitterness nicely...again, yum. Nice medium mouthfeel and the light carbonation works very well. I'm especially fond of the coffee bitterness finish that lingers on for some time. This is a very good Smoked Porter indeed and when they are done right, they're one of my favourite styles.
Drinkability is right up there as I find myself taking sip after sip and the contents of the bottle are disappearing far too rapidly.
A big thanks again go out to nutbrown for letting me sample yet another fine Captain Lawrence brew!
Smokey, malty, and sweet. I like it.

Bottle from BOTW. Nice smokey nose, bacon, chocolate, oysters. Tart and bitter, light. Rather disappointing flavor that doesn’t impress.

Bottle sample at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks troubles. Dark brown to black with a tan head. Aroma is a bit smoky, roasty with some dark chocolate and a meaty note. Bittersweet roasty flavor with a bit of dark chocolate, a light coffee note, mild smokiness and a more bitter finish. Medium-bodied.

Tap at Blue Smoke, NYC, 24/11/13. Light black with a moderate tan head that clears to a pond and edge work. Nose is dark malts, smoke, dark fruit, earthy cocoa, treacle toffee. Taste comprises lightly smoked malts, brown sugars, earthy cocoa, touch of spice, dark fruit tang. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry roast with a lingering layer of smoke in the finish. Decent smoked affair, fairly subtle rausching thus retaining its shape a porter like status.

29.06.2013, 0,5l bottle @ NY hotel room:
Nice creamy longlasting head. Aroma is smoke, dark malts, salty licorice, grass, coffee, ham. Taste is slightly sweet, smoked dark malts, dark sugar, licorice, grass, sour coffee, hops. Medium bitterness, slightly dry mouthfeel, thin body. Not bad, but some aging would probably be good for this one.
