This beer is initially dry and bitter. Full flavoured and complex marmalade / aniseed notes follow which then leave a lingering bitterness on the palate. A classic in its style.

On cask at the Guildford Arms. Appearance - golden with a proportionate head. Nose - oranges and a touch of mountain herb. Taste - fresh oranges and lemons with a nice sweet fruitcake note in the background. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. GGood balance. Overall - enjoyable ale.

Huddersfield Beer Festival. Blonde with a small head and a hoppy nose. It’s quite dry with its dominant hop taste that has some very small fruit notes.

Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 7/7/2014. Golden, with a decent, white, head. Hedgerow fruit, with a touch of apricot and tangerine, biscuity malts and a lingering, bitter, finish. Enjoyable English drinking.

Cask at the Old Gaolhouse (JDW), Winchester. Amber with a tight cream head; muted tropical fruit aroma; the taste is also quite muted with more tropical fruit and some grapefruit; then a sharp, short-lived, grapefruity bitterness, before a return to sweet mango finish. An interesting attempt at the American IPA style, but needing more of everything.
