Bottle from Happy Apple, Totnes. Light to mid brown with a head and a light carbonation. Lightly sweet with lightish old ale style darker malts and a light bitter finish.

Bottle from Secretts, Milford. Seems to have been 6.8% rather than 8.0% for some time now. Aroma is rich a fruity, with a vinous element. Gluey streak into finish. Dark brown. Foamy off-white head. Light-medium sour. Berries. A touch of quinine bitterness. Malty underbelly. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Lifted by soft carbonation. Long astringent finish. How'd this get so bland?

Bottle at home from Sainsburys. Dark amber orange colour with medium frothy/creamy white head. Smells boozy and quite fruity, apple and some bready yeast. Bit of toffee, caramel and honey too. Smells very sweet. Taste is full on sweet and bit fruity. Quite cake-like. After-taste is very much honey. Fairly full bodied, and quite nice. --- Beer merged from original tick of Full Bore on 09 Sep 2019 at 16:06 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 7. Bottle from brewer’s own stall at the Mapledurham Food Festival. Amber with a thin white head. Caramel dominates, with a touch of toast and honey. Slips down easily enough, but it’s surprisingly dull for a brew of this strength.

Bottle split at Level 42, thanks to Danny, 24/05/16. Rich amber with a decent beige swirl. Nose is airy malts, fruit loaf, marzipan, fruit esters. Taste comprises fruit cake, dates, raisens, light caramel. Medium bodied, prickly carbonation - overcooked in this respect, sweet toasted close. Ok English Strong, the carb level let this down a touch for me.
