This ale is named after a deep red dragon fly found in local rivers and wetlands. The beer, the newest to the Andwell’s range, uses malted rye to create its characteristic ruby glow. The flavours and aromas derive from a combination of English hops. Bottled version is 4.9%

Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars’ Hampshire Beer Festival, Bristol 2/05/2011. Reddish amber with a slight, off-white head. Caramel and red fruit aroma. Flavour was similar, with some earthy malts and a moderately bitter finish. Good.

Cask (gravity) @ The 16th Reading Beer and Cider Festival 2010, Reading, Berkshire England.Clear medium amber color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, roasted, caramel, nutty, dusty, dark fruit, bread notes. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20100429]

Cask (White Hart, Overton) - Brown with red tinges. Caramel, toffee and dried fruit in the aroma. Fruity and slightly roasted taste with toffee, nuts and dried fruit.

Cask at the Three Guineas, Reading. Deep reddish amber with a thin white head; the aroma is sweet with lots of purple fruit; fruity, plumy, flavour with a rounded bitter finish. Very drinkable.
