(Draught at Bishops Arms SoFo) The beer poured pitch black with medium sized and light brown head. Aroma had quite a lot of hops and also nearly burnt malts and ash. Palate was medium bodied with quite high carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, hops, mildly liquorice and medium bitterness. Aftertaste was burnt and bitter. I had mixed feeling about this. Mostly I found this beer very likeable but also something in there was really off-putting.

Entered to celebrate my rating number 19,100. Draft. A pitch black beer with a lazing dark brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, lemon, bread, and rye. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of roasted malt, sugar, and toasted pumpernickle bread as well as lighter notes of soy sauce and alcohol that grows in intensity and hence tickles the tongue and the lips. The finish is dry and roasted.

(Draught at Stockholm Beer Festival, 2 Oct 2010) Very dark brown colour with frothy, beige head. Roasted, malty nose with notes of chocolate, coffee and cocoa. Malty, roasted taste with cocoa, coffee, hints of ashes and a generous coffee bitterness in a dry finish. More than medium body, rather dry. The rye character stays a bit in the background. Very nice beer.
