Double IPA

Our take on the West Coast-style Double India Pale Ale, The Oracle places hop intensity first and foremost, making only the slightest concession to malt and balance.

The fireworks start with the aromatic punch of dry-hop sessions with hop varieties from the Pacific Northwest. Resinous, citrusy hop flavors mixed with aggressive bitterness from a massive kettle addition deliver on that aromatic promise.

Bottle thanks to ditmier. Pours out a burnt orange topped with a tall white head. Aroma is so hoppy I love it. Tons of citrus and pine notes along with sweet caramell. Taste is WOW hops delight. Grapefruit peel, pine, sweetness, apricot, all working together.

Bottle. Hazy medium orange body, thick puffy buff head with good lacing. Nose of intense, sweet sugared papaya, resinous and sticky, with some bitter pine and hints of alcohol. Rich, sweet body, with papaya and sticky tropical fruits, citrus and citrus rind, and a piny, astringent finish. The beer’s intensity is felt in its prickly carbonation, warming alcohol notes, and intense hops profile. Bell’s now has two top-notch Imperial IPAs in its repertoire.

Bottle - thanks tytoanderso. Bright orange pour with a nice white head. Smells fruity, sweet, and tropical. Light pince. Smooth taste is a hop medley with citrus, pine, and tropical fruitiness. Mellow maltiness. Syrupy and smooth. Agreed; this is a beautiful beer.

Big thanks to fogdog for providing this sample at the weekly tasting. Pours hazy deep orange with white head. The aroma is sweet malts mixing with grapefruit, tangelo and resin. The taste is much the same with grapefruit and tangelo hop flavor blending into resiny hop bitterness. The bitterness builds into the finish and helps dry it out. Very nice brew!

bottle at Ft Wayne tasting - Pours yellow-orange and has a big citrus hop aroma that made me think of pineapple among other things. The flavor is a huge hops burst with citrus notes that leads into a long, bitter finish. It’s got enough malt to give it some body and a hint of sweetness under there, but as others have said, this one is definitely all about the hops. Good stuff.

12 oz. bottle courtesy of mreusch - batch 9306. Pour is orange golden with a one inch white head that falls with some pretty lacing. Aroma is big resin some pine, some earthy leafy vegetal. Really strong, all about the hops. Fresh and lively. Taste follows suit big aggressive hop resin, leafy vegetal earthiness close behind. Hops leaf and resin are the story here. Palate is medium, grainy, long dry finish. Nice one, thanks Matt.

Bottle. Pours a clear orangish amber with a nice lacing slightly off white head. A Beautiful aroma with piney notes well balanced with a sweeter pineapple note. Flavor is more one note with a bitter hop flavor but there still is a slight sweet pineapple undertone. A slight alcohol burn towards the end.
