Cloudy blond color (it seems paler than usual), with beautiful creamy head. Wonderful aroma, noble hop, Hallertau. The mouthfeel is dry, there is a quite good crispy malt flavor, but surpassed, covered by a very strong hopping, very green, a bit aggressive but also aromatic. The final is maybe too bitter. Good and pleasing, rough.

Today this beer has a particular accent on biscuity malt aromas. As often happens at Vogel, the ending bitterness is quite grassy and harsh.

Muddy light amber color; compact, generous head. Nice hop aroma, mild, with some apple presence. Good malt flavor, a bit sweeter than other times, therefore better balancing the strong bitterness, that comes with green hops. Powerful final too, and less harsh than in other occasions. A bit uncontrolled as usual, not elegant, but very enjoyable.

Cloudy deep blond color, creamy head. Very nice hop aroma, very hopflowery, green. Dry mouthfeel, with some crispy, biscuity malt, lean, but hidden by a very bold bitterness, and an aggressive, green hopping. The final is a bit harsh. Very refreshing, a bit rough.

Cloudy blond color; compact head. Very nice hoppy aroma, grassy. Good mouthfeel; powerful hopping, green, very aromatic; maybe the final is a bit harsh.

Muddy dark blond color; generous and compact head, persistent. It has a wonderful hop aroma, and with crispy malt. The body is correctly structured, the mouthfeel is dry, there is a good crispy malt flavor (decent intensity), and very strong bitterness; the hop has undoubted aromatic qualities, but I have to admit that at the very end the bitterness is maybe disturbing a bit. Aggressive and very good beer.

Draught @ Vogel Hausbrau Ettlingen, Rheinstrasse 4, Ettlingen, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany 76275.Unclear medium yellow color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, grain, toasted, straw, light to moderate hoppy, grass, citrus, soap. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, citrus peel bitter. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20100929]

Draught Hazy yellow with a small greenish shine; very fine, white huge head, very stable leaving lacey rings. (Pale) malts and rather little else - head prohibits much nose. Very dry-grainy taste, with a fine toasted finish. But overall, the hops reign supreme, with bittering and noble hops. Light to medium bodied; the opposite of empty, this is the real thing, even having slightly creamy texture. Just as in Ettlingen, super top-Pilsener. Very much a must when in the area.Earlier Rating: 3/11/2007 Total Score: 3.3 Draught Hazy orange beer with a slight olive shine; small white head leaving some lace. Bit of malts, bit of hops, but restrained. Very hoppy (bitter and flavour) Pilsner. The malt is present, but the hops make out the business. Couldn’t guess which hops (it’s Northern Brewer and Perle, IIRC), but they are the right kind. Bit burning MF, quite carbonated, light to medium bodied. Really good Pilsner, excellent in quality. The nose was not helped by the restaurant AND the brewery in full swing.

Hand bottled (gezwickelt), thanks jeverszeuge! Hazy golden, rich head. Grassy hoppy nose. Very dry with light-medium body and rounded mouthfeel. A bit fruity despite lots of grassy hops. Lingering very bitter finish. Unusually fruity for a pilsner.
