Gone Fishing Extra Special Bitter is very traditonal in style, even though it is brewed with American hops. A deel amber coloured ale, Gone Fishing is fruity and malty - it goes down far too easily for a beer of this strength.

On tap @ Bert’s Bar. Pours amber with a decent head. The nose is quite sweet, probably honey and malt. The taste is more honey and malt with a caramel finish. The palate is medium bodied with a good texture but unfortunately the finish is too sweet and therefore it’s slightly unbalanced. Overall, so, so!

Max’s Taphouse, Baltimore tap: Pours a nice copper color with an off-white head. Aroma is caramel malt, British hops, and some light fruitiness. Taste is mildly bitter and somewhat sweet. This was a very nice and simple, easy drinking beer that was great for kicking off a day at Max’s.

Cask, gravity at the Pig and Falcon, St Neots. 02-10-09 Pours copper in colour with a tiny white rim masquerading as a head, and reasonable clarity. There is toffee and some syrupy fruitiness but after this I get very little else. A6 A3 F6 P3 Ov12 3.0
