Via BA trade. pours black, tan head. aroma, lots of coffee, roasted malts with plenty of barrel in the nose. flavors, barrel, light cinnamon, chocolate malts, espresso/coffee palate adding a mild bitterness in the finish. Overall abv adds a nice warming mouthfeel making this one another nicely done barrel aged beer. Java profile is moderate providing a nice blend with the use of cinnamon.

My last rating of the RBSG Grand Tasting, any my handwriting tells me that was a good thing. Shared by deyholla. Pours a dark brown color appearing black in the glass. Thin head with decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of chocolate, coffee and caramel. Tastes of chocolate, bitter coffee a faint cherry finish and a bit of coconut.

Location: Bottle at Max and Andy's Fantasy Tasting, 5/1/10

Aroma: The nose on this one is boozy (bourbon), spice, roasted malts, and oak
Appearance: The pour is dark brown-black in color with a beige-brown head
Flavor: The bourbon is also strong in the flavor of this malty, spicy, and boozy brew
Palate: This one feels rather rich, and is certainly boozy (the booze are probably too hot)
Overall Impression: Not a bad beer, but I like a little less bourbon in my beer then this. If I wanted to drink bourbon, I'd have gotten a bourbon. Otherwise, it has some interesting flavors, and seems to have a pretty good complexity to it, so I'm certainly not going to go too low.

Another great one thanks to markwise. Pours clear mahogany with copper edges and brief tan head. The aroma is sweet rich molasses, black strap molasses, chocolate, coffee, burnt malts and a touch of caramel. The taste is a bit thin but it’s also rich with molasses, coffee, caramel, burnt malts and some malt roastiness. This is very nice and ends with the addition of a touch of dry roastiness.

Sampled at the Hopsnobbery Collective Stout tasting on 01/23/10. Bottle #5/156. Pours glossy black with a medium and rocky beige head that recedes to nothing steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Espresso and roasted malt in the nose, along with a touch of vanilla. Rich, smooth body with flavors of coffee, toasted malt and vanilla. Cinnamon flavor is very faint. The finish is roasty with a sweet mild coffee aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

22oz bottle sampled at the DC Local tasting. Darkest Cuvee I’ve ever seen in my life. Pours a watery, opaque black with a thin, spitty, slightly beige head. Aroma is HUGE on coffee, a little creamy smelling, nutty, toasted bread. Flavor is sweet, like sweet Dunkin Donuts coffee with cream and sugar, vanilla, wood, nuts, toast. Finish is slightly sweet but otherwise smooth. I liked this better than Goose Island Bourbon County Stout which we had nearly side by side. The creaminess and the sweet, coffee flavors were really nice.
