Cask. Dark gold with smooth off-white head. Toasty malts, hint of citrus and a slightly abrasive bitter finish although its nice to have a gold with some punch to it. Average mouthfeel for a cask, was expecting more smoothness.

16/6/2022. Cask at the 30th East Anglian Beer & Cider Festival, Bury St Edmunds. Pours clear dark straw gold with a small bubbly white head. Aroma is malty, earthy, fruity, caramel, touch of berry and slightly veggie. Moderate sweetness, quite bitter. Moderate body, oily, soft carbonation. Bitter finish, a little rough this one. Expected better. Maybe the cask wasn’t in the best shape.

Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford Pours a pale yellow with a small white head and good lacing. Nose is straw with hints of lemon. Nothing much memorable in the mouth either, some citrus and caramel, that’s all. Some lemon in the finish. Swiggable and forgettable.

Cask @ The Royal Oak, Shrewsbury. Pours a slowly clearing gold, small white head. Aroma is pleasant lemon citrus. Continues to taste with a nice cascade hop presence that perhaps emerged more than expected and kept me sipping. Good overall balance to it. Decent satisfactory golden ale.

Cask pint in The Pheasant, Wellington Shropshire, lunchtime on 7th March 2017. Clear deep golden pour, white, lasting head. Nice blend, with the malts balancing the hop content nicely. Slight citrus leanings but a pleasant Bitter and easy to drink.

Handpull cask at the Burton Bridge Inn, Burton-on-Trent. Light gold, clear with the tiniest white head. Medium to heavy lacing. Light orange/grapefruit aroma. Sweet fruity taste which then reveals a tenacious bitterness on the back of the tongue. Barley and lemon juice in the aftertaste. Thin body but that’s to be expected considering the ABV and style. Good when drunk at source but I suspect it doesn’t travel all that well.

Cask at the Wellington, Birmingham. Poured a clear light amber with a frothy broken white head. The aroma is light citrus hop, light malt. The flavour is light bitter with a light grass hop bitter palate. Light bodied with soft carbonation. Rather light all round really but quite a decent session ale.
