Bottle. Color: Dark amber, off-white head. Taste: Pretty bitter, spicy. Not only hopbitterness, but mostly because of the used sage. Combined with medium sweet malty notes, mostly towards the finish. Light hints of caramel. Very lightly irritating, bittery palate. Above medium body, slightly below average carbonation. Nice revival of a historical beer style.

Sampled semi drunk at Cafe The Jack in Eindhoven shared with Ferris. Hazy orange color, small white to off-white head. Aroma is lightly malts, herbal, lightly grassy, perfumy hops. Taste malts, perfumy hops again, sweetish, slightly grassy. Average body and carbonation.

Bottle shared by a friend, medium sample. Slight hazy golden color, medium frothy head. Aroma of flowery spices, sage, spicy, coriander, biscuity malt. Soft bitter in taste, spicy, biscuity sweetness, bit caramel. Actually a traditional as it is based on a historical recipe, but they decided to put IPA on the label, although it has nothing to do with that at all. Why? Seriously, why? And the worst is, they were warned for this. Minus 1.0 for that. --- Beer merged from original tick of Loender IPA on 23 Sep 2017 at 21:46 - Score: 4. Original review text: Welke idioot verzint het om IPA op het label te zetten? Krankzinnig. Dikke minpunten daarvoor

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ W. van Schaik, Vianen. Clear dark amber with an off-white head. Sage aroma with some hops and coriander. When it warms up a bit the hops are more present. Taste is medium bitter. The sage is very upfront in a most pleasing way. I wouldn’t consider this an IPA, although the brewer obviously does, because of the sage and coriander but it’s a tasty and unusual beer for sure.
