For once, may they forgive me, rated from memory Dark brown beer with good, but not persistent dark yellow head. Very dark malty and spicey nose, totally in the Ardennes style. Nose gets fully confirmed with earthy, leafy, dry-spicey and near coffee notes. Completely in the Achouffe/Fantome/Du Bocq style, including a hint of too many fusels. Less fuller bodied than the taste would have you, a bit thinnish, connecting with a touch of sourness at the swallowing. Named after the beer of Maigret - hence the Walloon character?

Bottle 75 cl. Pours a hazy amber with a lively off-white head - comes gushing. Sweet aroma of caramel and brown sugar. Medium body, sweet burned caramel, dried fruits and a little yeast. There’s a vague underlying tartness and combined with the gushing it indicates an infection - just like the bottle I had 5 years ago!! No real bitterness. 100910
Bottle 75 cl Dark, reddish amber, unclear with a light brown collapsing head. Fresh, tart, fruity nose. Has some of the same rustic, earthy malty notes also found in the Baladin beers. Weird underlying sourness - I wonder if it’s intentional or a sign of infection? Interesting if not exactly formidable. 6/3/5/2/12= 2.8 180505

Bottled. Mahogany colour. Aroma of burnt malt and strawberries. Sweet, fruity and richly malty with rounded, soapy mouthfeel. There’s grass and licorice in a tarry bitterfinish. Really good!

An unclear amber beer with a huge off-white head. The aroma is spicy with notes of butter. The flavor is sweet spicy with notes of berries leading to a dry hoppy end.
