Hazy gold beer. No head. Smooth palate but with a carbonated bite in the tail. Honey like light malt with a trace of orange fruits. Pinch of pepper. Finishes silky smooth. Nice easy drinking Belgian.

Bottled. A dark golden beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of caramel and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, hops, and fruits mainly grapefruits, leading to a lightly bitter finish.

Crisp clear orange-hued golden coloured body with a bright glow and an odd oily-sediment topped (instead of any head at all) beer. Aroma of granny smith apples, candy sugar, yeast, coriander seed and a touch of apricots and oak. Full-bodied; Strong full flavoured beer with honeysuckle, apricots, peaches, yeast, oak, vanilla and a lot of sugar at the tail end. Aftertaste shows a touch of sweetness, a little drying flavour and a whole lot of sugar and fruits near the end. Overall, a good belgie, perhaps a bit too reliant on fruit and sugars without much other complexities. Nice to sample, but not one of my favourite belgian aless, but definitely not a bad attempt. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from City Beer in San Francisco, California on 29-June-2010 for US$7, sampled at home in Washington on 19-September-2010.

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of bu11zeye. Clear deep golden with an off-white head. Sweet fruity nose with some honey accents. Very solid body, very sweet fruits, some yeast and phenols. Warming alcohol in the finish. A fairly straight Belgian style beer. 210810

Nice Belgian-style strong ale. There’s some booze in the nose and it’s a bit simply sweet, but otherwise, this is a very good beer and easy to drink, relative to the abv. It’s a bright, transparent light golden color with a relatively small white cap. The aroma is honey, raisins, band-aids, cough syrup, earth, caramel, sugar cane and herbal hops. The flavor is pleasingly sweet; lots of honeyed malt comes through. It finishes a little weak without any real punctuation of flavor, merely drifting off into diminishing sweetness. The mouthfeel is good, though not really noteworthy. It’s a good beer, though not really a huge loss if the new ownership at Valley Brew chooses to discontinue it (unlike some of Steve Altimari’s incredible beers).
