Thick, rich and decadent - this is a beast of a Scotch Ale (actually an imperial, if that is an actual category. Pumping up the alcohol and ingredient list has made this into a Canadian classic. A backbone of very roasty malt supports a super rich taste profile. Thick toffee, dark berries, booze, butter and a hint of chocolate are brought into an extravagant but successful balance. Taste sustains and stays in balance. Not for everyone, but quite an accomplishment!

Bottle shared at Hopa. Deep mahogany pour, off-white head. Nose is huge honey, bread notes, burnt sugar, chocolate, sweet booze. Taste is the same with a long, sweet and warm finish. Feels a tad too light, but otherwise pretty awesome.

my bottle states the alcohol is 10.2%
Wicked aroma of dark sweet malts, caramel, and honey. The flavor is rich, and malty. Great beer.

Poured from 473mL can (pkg 24 July 24). Clear auburn brown with small beige head. Woody caramel malt, feint honey, mild phenols come to the forefront as it warms giviing a dubbel quality to the scotch ale. Decent.

Amber-brown, and bright. Medium head. On the nose, some bubblegum, and this also has a bit of toffee. On the palate, it's cleaner but still some phenols that drag it down. Lowish bitterness, so you really want lots of rich malt character, and I don't get quite enough of that. Touch of honey sweetness in the finish, but doesn't help me get past the phenols.

Can from Beer Republic. Hazy brown, small, foamy, tan head. Aroma of candied date, raisin, apricot jam, dark honey, orange peel, caramel, brioche, liqueur. Taste has very sweet candied date, raisin & red apple in a honeyish, caramelly malt body with herbal edges. Soft earthy hoppy finish, lingering dried fruits, vague toast, warming honey liqueur-like alcohol. Medium to full body, syrupy texture, soft carbonation. Tasty, but more of a genuine 'honey beer' than a Scotch.

472 mL can thanks to hershiser2, 9/26/22. New brewery! Brewery #2112, Canada #56, Quebec #23. Dark red, medium tan head, decent retention. Aroma of toffee, caramel, vanilla, hint of cherry. Taste is cherry, toffee, earth, more cherry, cola, vanilla. Slick, mild booze.
