Avec des arômes de dattes confites, cette bière pleine de texture est ronde en bouche. Son goût sucré rappelle celui du miel et du confit d’oignon. Le taux d’alcool élevé s’ajoute aux saveurs pour rendre cette bière encore plus complexe en bouche en nous rappelant la saveur du porto et des dattes.

Bottle @ RBWG. Pours a reddish brown appearance with a tan head. Heavy sugar, toffee, somewhat oxidized aroma. Low carbonation. Brown sugar. Cardboard. Old. Thanks Mike!

Bottle. We were worried because this was a slow gusher after the pop of the cap. Deep amber color with a ton of head. Ok, in the clear, no infection but I believe this is an old bottle. Nose of malted wheat, caramel and edible flowers. Toffee and toasted caramel malts, traces of honey and a slightly off flavor. Nothing real terrible. The flavor is real sweet on the borderline of cloying. Body is medium with a sweet sticky texture.

Évaluation no. 71 Février 2011. De couleur brune avec une mousse très abondante et persistante. Un nez avec du miel partout, de la banane et des accents de malt. En bouche, elle présente une attaque bien sentie de miel et de bananes. L’alcool est bien balancé avec le reste mais reste persistant un peu trop en finale. Une bière très fruitée, sucrée, qui aurait du nous offrir un peu plus d’amertume, surtout de torréfaction. Reste néanmoins une excellente bière.

dark red to brown. smells like a standard belgian beer. spices, lots of sugar and booze. maybe a tad bit of cherry Lots of cotton candy / butter taste. mild spice. very sweet. meh

Bottle: Pours deep, cola brown with a thick ,dark tan head. Sweet, caramelized sugars, floral, chocolate, vanilla aroma. Taste is VERY sweet, honey, cola , vanilla. Molasses, dark fruits and cocoa... Very nice....but a bit too sweet for more than one.

I poured some out on the grass and tried to see how it looked. Apparently the way it landed on my damn flip flop, it looks dark cloudy brown with mocha head. The lasting stickiness I’ll put down as lacing. Caramelized malt. You can taste some of the honey but it’s not too powerful. Decent for style - malt is a distinguishing characteristic. Bottle from Delires du Terroir.

Sampled at the 1st Festibiere d’hiver in Gatineau, Quebec (January 2012). It is their "cuvée spéciale" edition. Pours a hazy brown-mohagany colour with a decent tanned head. Sweet malt aromas with dark fruits, caramel, brown sugars and hints of chocolate. Alcohol is well-hidden with no apparant burns and nice stickiness. The taste is pretty close to the nose with a touch of hop in the finish. A beautiful strong Scottish ale.

Deep dark brown body with almost no head at all. Strong aroma of roasted malt, nuts, alcohol and of course, tons of honey! Full-bodied; Dense malty flavour with honey, alcohol and quite a bit of spices. Aftertaste shows some bitterness and a lot of alcohol, while being quite strong. Overall, great to try, but perhaps a bit too strong. I sampled this 500 mL bottle purchased and sampled in Montreal, Quebec, Canada in late 2009.

Dégustée en fût au Festival Bières & Saveurs 2006 à Chambly. De couleur brune foncée et claire. Nez de caramel sucré, léger de toffee avec des notes de chocolat noir, de fruits (prunes, cerises et traces de raisins) ainsi que des notes de houblon herbeux. Moyennement ronde en bouche avec un pétillement moyen ainsi qu’une texture légèrement crémeuse et aux notes liquoreuses. Léger goût fruité (léger de prunes, notes de cerises et de raisins) avec des faibles notes épicées (poivre) lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute rapidement un goût malté de caramel sucré avec des notes de sucre brun, de toffee et de miel puis en finale l’on retrouve une légère amertume de houblon floral et herbeux avec un léger goût d’alcool ainsi que quelques notes de chocolat noir. Post-goût moyen-long, légèrement amer de houblon herbeux, d’alcool doux ainsi que que très léger de fruits (moût de prunes et de raisins).

Bouteille 500ml. Couleur brune foncée, presque opaque. Peu de mousse beige. Arôme de mélasse, de miel, de chocolat et d’un peu espresso. Goût de miel, mélasse, sucre brun, chocolat, café, avec une chaleur d’alcool en fin de bouche. Texture collante, un peu syrupeuse. Malgré un taux d’alcool élevé, il est bien camouflé.
