Bottle, 9%. Weak vinous aroma. Very dark brown colour, red shine, seems clear. The flavour is nicely roasted with a good deal of spices and alcohol. Very flavourful, but nicely balanced.

330 ml bottle. Dark brown body with a thin beige head. Aroma is mild and smooth malty with dry fruit and spices. Flavor is sweet malty, slightly roasted like burnt brown sugar, dry fruit and spicy in a Belgium style. Ok bitter finish. Nice balance. Better than 2007 version.

Medium brown head. Just barely translucent dark red body. Fruity wild berry aroma with spicy toffee notes, fairly mild. Meaty vanilla notes as well. Sweet-dryish brown sugary and roasty meat and soy sauce taste with earthy musty notes. Really unusual. Feels like something odd has happened to the yeast. Full-bodied. Mild, sugary mouthfeel. Leaves sticky sugars on lips. Sweetish soy sauce and licorice aftertaste with salty notes. Too sweet to drink much of. Second bottle had less of the sweetness, meat, and soy sauce, and felt more normal. Numeric rating is a merge of the two. Didn’t enjoy first bottle much, second was quite good. (0.33l bottle, wine monopoly.)

330ml, dark green bottle. Deep, dark ruby body. Just a tiny ring of off-white bubbles at the top. Decent lacing on the glass. Aroma of chocolate malts with an herbal touch. Roasted, sweet malts added by dark and dried fruits. Notes of prunes and apricot and anise. Bitter dark fruits to the aftertaste in fusion with a solid punch of warming alcohol. Fine Christmas spirit in this one (Tromsø 23.12.2009).

330 ml green bottle, ABV 9%, from Vinmonopolet. Very dark reddish brown colour, nearly black. Huge to big tan head. Nice aroma, notes of dark malts, hints of dark syrup and burnt caramel. Rich mouthfeel. The flavour is very malty and moderately roasty, notes of burnt caramel again. Sweet, but not over the top. The alcohol is not disturbing. Moderate hops in the finish, I wouldn’t mind if there had been more of them.

Bottle. It pours an oily, very dark brown body, clear, with a finger-thick beige head collapsing rather quicly. Molasses-sweet nose with hints of alc, dried fruits, roasted malts, a faint note of licorice and some caramel. Full-bodied and sweet, quite warming. Sweet, roasted flavor with some dried fruits and caramel. Licorice in the background. Lasting warming finish with roasted malts and lots of dark sugar. A beer that needs some time to finish, but it’s tasteful and smooth, although you need to like alcohol warmth to appreciate it. Some nuts and/or cheese is a nice companion for this one. 091122
